Tuesday's Class - Found Poem Project

Entry Title:  What is a Found Poem?

Found Poem - Using a word, phrase, sentences or short passages from a work of literature to create an original poem.

  
AGENDA
  1. Do Now - What is a Found  Poem?
  2. Make Up Test - If you missed the test yesterday, and you are reading this, you must take the test today or receive a zero!
  3. EQ: Do you understand what a found poem is and what the requirements are for the project?
  4. Mini-lesson:  Gallery of found poems.
  5. Guided practice:  Students will make a list resources they will need for their projects.
  6. HW - Complete your list of resources and write it down in your agenda and your composition book!
Sample List of Resources I Will Need
  • Short Story Packet
  • Highlighter - to higlight passages I like
  • Blank Paper - to copy passages from stories for the poem
  • Cardboard - a backgrond to mount my poem
  • Art Supplies - markers, crayons, colored paper, scissors, glue stick, etc...
  • Time - to complete written portion of project and assemble my found poem on its background

Rubric Testing
Using the project rubric, have a peer make sure your poem fulfills all criteria on the rubric. Make needed changes.

Decorate your mounting (cardboard, poster board etc.)

Assemble
Glue your final found poem to mounting.
